YolanCris Bridal Fall 2017

Rodarte founders Kate and Laura Mulleavy are not the only avant-garde designer sisters; since 2005, Yolanda and Cristina Perez have been creating exquisite, handmade bridal gowns in their atelier in Barcelona. This season is the first time the sisters presented a full runway show for New York Bridal Week and the timing couldn’t be better: Beyoncé just wore one of their creations to the MTV Video Music Awards. Inspired by the Victorian age, the YolanCris collection was filled with edgy yet utterly romantic gowns that embraced all women. The Perez sisters created intricate looks such as a gold lace and embroidered midlength dress with scalloped trim, a gold brocade bolero with raglan sleeves, a pale blue hand-painted floral high-low frock and an ivory tulle and lace dress with crystals and feathers and a removable metallic-fringe cape. It was refreshing to see bridal designers push the envelope and create a collection that is truly special.
